NECA urges for reforms to improve business environment

Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association has called for more reforms to enhance the ease of doing business in the country.

The association made this call  while applauding the government for its recent reforms that led to an improvement in the country’s ranking on the World Bank 2020 Doing Business report.

According to the Director- General, NECA, Mr Timothy Olawale, some of the reforms embarked on by the government contributed to an improved rating for Nigeria; which include creation of new electronic platform for business registration by the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The platform which is linked to that of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for instant generation of Tax Clearance Certificate number reduces human interface within the system, Olawale noted.

He listed other reforms to include, improvement in the land administration processes which enhances transparency and digitisation.

He made reference to electrical connectivity which was identified as an area of improvement by the rating agency.

He remarked that reforms in the commercial litigation of smaller cases were more efficient by introduction of pre-trial conferences.
