The invitation to attend the Insurers Committee Meeting was extended to them via a memo dispatched to the 57 insurance and three reinsurance firms last week.

The Federal Government, had through the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) stated in the memo that all the CEOs must attend the meeting in person.

A top CEO who spoke on condition of anonymity said the emergency meeting is rattling him and many of his colleagues in the industry.

He said the meeting is unusual because the memo did not state the agenda just as the venue also changed. “When I received the memo, I was curious and surprised at the tone of the Commission’s statements. I then put a call through to the Commission to know the agenda of the meeting but surprisingly, I was told that it will be unveiled at the meeting.”
