The Ondo State State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has been given the nod by the state House of Assembly to borrow the sum of two billion naira for the Commercial Agric Credit Scheme (CACS) fund.
The request of the Governor seeking the assembly’s approval to secure the fund was read on the floor of the chambers by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Bode Adeyelu, at a plenary sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun.
The House Majority Leader, Hon. Olugbenga Araoyinbo, while moving a motion for the House to grant the governor’s request described agriculture as very vital to the development of any nation.
He called on his colleagues to approve the loan request, while stating that the requested loan will not only develop agricultural sector in the state, but also reduce unemployment among youths as many will be engaged through it.
The motion which was seconded by Hon. Sunday Olajide, had the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun putting the Governor’s request to a voice vote which was unanimously agreed to by the lawmakers.
