Stock market rebounds with N50bn gain as ASI inches up by 0.38%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index grew by 0.38% to settle at 25,520.97 points from the previous close of 25,424.91 points.

Investors gained N50 billion as Market Capitalisation, appreciated by 0.38% to close at N13.314 trillion from the previous close of N13.264 trillion.

An aggregate of 236.48 million units of shares were traded in 3,251 deals, valued at N1.648 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 22 stocks gained while 12 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Eterna Plc led other gainers with 9.69% growth to close at N2.49 from the previous close of N2.27.

C&I Leasing and Wema Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.45% and 7.84% respectively.

Percentage Losers

ABC Transport led other price decliners as it shed 7.69% of its share price to close at N0.36 from the previous close of N0.39.

Cornerstone Insurance, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Unity Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 7.58%, 5.88% and 5.56% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Zenith Bank traded about 33.16 million units of its shares in 357 deals, valued at N546.75 million
  • Fidelity Bank traded about 29.97 million units of its shares in 104 deals, valued at N52.65 million
  • Mutual Benefit Assurance traded about 25.04 million units of its shares in 38 deals, valued at N5 million.
