Penny stocks dominated trading on Thursday as they made-up 33 of the 37 stocks, that is 90% of the stocks that grew in the days’ trading.
PZ which gained N2.07 was the top gainer in percentage terms as it grew by 9.9 percent.
The Nigeria equities market rallied for the second consecutive session in the week.
All Share Index (NSEASI) and Market Capitalization (MKT CAP) grew by 1.88 percent having gained 612.54 points and ₦212billion respectively in the day.
The main market indexes all closed positive as total deals grew by 5.08 percent, Aggregate volume turnover grew by 13.72 percent and aggregate value turnover grew by 45.49 percent while the All Share Index and Market Capitalization advanced by 1.88 percent respectively.
Investors’ sentiments was positive as they plunged into the market in optimism of significant profit taking, while waiting for the 2017 budget implementation.
The three NSE Premium stocks, DANGCEM, FBNH and ZENITHBANK grew by 2.49 percent, 4.91 percent and 1.55 percent respectively in the day.
The market measured by market breadth showed considerable rate of recuperation as the number of stocks that grew in prices, 37, out-numbered the stocks that declined in prices, 14.
Penny stocks dominated the day’s trading, but highly capitalized stocks like NB, DANGCEM, MOBIL, and SEPLAT grew, while 7UP, GUINNESS, SEPLAT and NESTLE retained in prices.
Of the 174 stocks on the floor of the Stock Exchange on Thursday, 64.36% (112 stocks) were traded out of which 37 stocks grew in price and 14 stocks declined in price while 123 stocks had their prices unchanged.
The Nigeria Stock Exchange’ All Share Index (NSEASI) and Market Capitalization (MKT CAP) closed positive, keeping the Year-to-Date at 23.80%.
The Nigerian Stock Exchange’ All Share Index (NSEASI) for Thursday June 29, 2017 closed at 33,269.84 which is 1.88% higher than the previous session’s 32,657.30
Market Capitalization closed at ₦11.505 trillion against previous session of ₦11.293 trillion, representing 1.88 % increase.
4,594 deals recorded in the day represent an increase of 5.08% against previous session’s 4,372 deals.
The 439 million units of equities traded for the day was 13.72% more than the previous session’s 386 million units.
Value of equities traded for the day increased by 45.49% more than previous session’s ₦3.303 billion to ₦4.806 billion which was recorded for the day.

PZ, DIAMONDBNK and UBA led other thirty-four percentage price gainers for the day.
Losers for the day (14)
MAYBAKER, LIVESTOCK and SKYEBANK led other eleven percentage price losers for the day.

UBA, ACCESS and TRANSCORP recorded the most volume in the day.
UBA, NB and ACCESS, recorded the most value in the day.
The Financial Services industry was the most active industry for the day with 300.213 million shares exchanged for ₦2.397 billion Thursday.
Conglomerates industry was next with 38.491 million share traded for ₦0.074 billion.
Oil and Gas Industry, Consumer Goods industry and Construction/ Real Estate Industry followed respectively.
Market breadth closed positive as with 37 gainers against 14 losers.
