Nigerian Stock market sheds N58bn, closes 0.43% lower

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Friday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.43% to close at 27,306.81 points against the previous close of 27,424.92 points on Thursday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.307, shedding N58 from the previous close of N13.365 trillion.

Volume of traded stocks closed at 220.8 million units, valued at N4.48 billion in in 2,702 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 11 stocks gained, while 15 stocks declined in their prices.

Percentage Gainers

Continental Reinsurance Plc with 9.45% led other gainers to close at N1.39 from the previous close of N1.27.

Custodian Investment Plc, Wapic Insurance and Wema Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.09%, 8.33% and 5.26%.

Percentage Losers

AIICO Insurance Plc led the price decliners’ list, shedding 10% of its share price to close at N0.63 from the previous close of N0.70.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance, Unity Bank, A.G Leventis and Honeywell Flour among others also shed their share prices by 9.09%, 8.57%, 6.90% and 5.00% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 129.2 million units of its shares in 149 deals, valued at N3.48 billion.
