Nigerian Bourse sheds N29bn, closes lower by 0.22%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.22% to settle at 25,166.01 points from the previous close of 25,221.23 points on Wednesday.

The Market Capitalisation closed at N 13.115 trillion, down by 0.22% from the previous close of N N13.144 trillion, thereby shedding N29 billion.

An aggregate of 348.2 million units of shares were traded in 7,148 deals, valued at N3.43 billion.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 19 equities appreciated in their share prices while 18 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Cutix Plc led other percentage gainers with 9.94% growth, closing at N1.88 from the previous close of N1.71.

May & Baker, Champion Breweries, University Press, Neimeth and Skyway Aviation among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.71%, 9.64%, 9.62%, 9.57% and 9.43% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated led other price decliners, shedding 9.92% of its share price to close at N5.45 from the previous close of N6.05.

Ikeja Hotel, UBA, Oando and Fidelity Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 8.73%, 6.25%, 5.71% and 5.50% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  •  First Bank of Nigeria Holdings (FBNH) traded about 47.39 million units of its shares in 615 deals, valued at N261.94 million.
  • Access Bank traded about 36.87 million units of its shares in 537 deals, valued at N270.71 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 27.42 million units of its shares in 617 deals, valued at N478.13.
