Nigerian Bourse sheds N162bn, closes lower by 1.27%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 1.27% to settle at 24,026.05 points from the previous close of 24,336.12 points.

Market Capitalisation shed N162 billion to close at N12.533 trillion from the previous close of N12.695 trillion.

An aggregate of 189.69 million units of shares were traded in 4,216 deals, valued at N2.78 billion.

 

Market Breadth 

The market breadth closed negative as 14 equities gained while 17 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

NAHCO and Cornerstone Insurance both led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N2.2 and N0.55 respectively.

Zenith Bank and Flour Mills of Nigeria among other gainers also grew their share prices by 5.25% and 5.11% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Beta Glass Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.95% of its share price to close at N61.55 from the previous close of N68.35.

Julius Berger and Livestock Feeds among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.81% and 9.68% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded 60.47 million units of its shares in 606 deals, valued at N1.28 billion.
  • Access Bank traded 25.34 million units of its shares in 259 deals, valued at N161.35 million.
  • UBA traded 8.78 million units of its shares in 202 deals, valued at N53.2 million.
