Nigerian Bourse sheds N156bn, closes 1.18% lower, Monday

The Nigerian equities market on Monday July 1st closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 1.18% to close at 29,614.61 points from the previous close of 29,966.87 points on Friday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.050 trillion, shedding N156 billion from the previous close of N13.206 trillion last Friday.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 107.4 million units and valued at N1.1 billion in 3,067 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 21 stocks gained while 16 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Cornerstone Insurance with 10% growth led other gainers to close at N0.22 above the previous close of N0.20. NPF Microfinance Bank, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Academy Press also grew their share prices by 8.57%, 7.69% and 7.41% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Red Star Express, TRANSCORP and Ecobank led others price decliners’ after shedding their share prices for the day by 10.00%, 9.73% and 9.09% respectively

 

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 8.5 million units of its shares in 335 deals, valued at N168.5 million
