Nigerian Bourse sheds N141bn, closes 1.26% lower

The Nigerian equities market on Monday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined further by 1.26% to close at 28,484.44 points from the previous close of 28,847.81 points on Friday.

Market capitalisation closed at N10.701 trillion, shedding N141 billion from the previous close of N10.842 trillion last Friday.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 214.68 million units, valued at N2.78 billion in 3,856 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 11 stocks gained while 30 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Neimeth and Okomu Oil with 10% growth led other gainers to close at N0.55 and N77 respectively.  A.G Leventis, Africa Prudential Plc and Japaul Oil also grew their share prices by 8.33%, 7.91% and 7.69% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Chams Plc and NEM Insurance among others on the decliners’ list both shed their share prices by 10% to close at N0.36 and N2.25.

Volume Drivers

 

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 37.98 million units of its shares in 303 deals, valued at N1.18 billion.
