Nigerian Bourse opens the week negative, closes 1.71% lower, Monday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday closed in red as the All Share Index declined by 1.71% to close at 34,663.48 points as against the previous close of 35,266.29 points.

Market capitalisation closed at N12.655 trillion, declining by 1.70% from the previous close of N12.874 trillion, shedding N219 billion.

Volume of traded stocks  declined by 41.09% closing at 220.5 million units while value appreciated by 17.08% to close at N3.19 billion.

Market Breadth

11 stocks gained while 22 stocks lost bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

NEWREST ASL Nigeria Plc (AIRSERVICE) led other percentage gainers, closing 8.99% above its previous close of N4.45 to settle at N4.85

FCMB, Regency Alliance Insurance and Skye Bank also grew 5.88%, 4.35% and 4.17% ahead other stocks on the gainers’ chart.

Percentage Losers

UAC Properties shed 8.19% leading the losers’ chart to close at N1.57 from the previous close of N1.71

Honeywell Flour, Japaul Oil and PZ also shed 7.59%, 7.14% and 7.12% respectively among others on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 36.66 million units of its shares in 374 deals, valued at N804.13 million.
