Nigerian Bourse halts 7 straight gains, closes 0.88% lower, Monday

The Nigerian Bourse on Monday closed in red as the All Share Index declined by 0.88%, closing at 30,732.72 points from the previous close of 31,005.17 points on Friday.

Market capitalisation declined by 0.88% to close at N11.461 trillion against the previous close of N11.562 trillion last Friday.

Volume and value of traded stocks grew by 65.96% and 46.92% to close at 499.2 million units and N5.53 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

13 stocks gained, while 18 stocks lost bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

Linkage Assurance with 8.93% growth led other percentage gainers to close at N0.61 from the previous close of N0.56

Associated Bus Company PLC (ABCTRANS), CCNN, Livestock Feeds, Jaiz Bank and WAPIC Insurance among other gainers grew 7.41%, 7.17%, 6.25%, 6.00% and 5.00% of their share prices respectively.

Percentage Losers

ETranzact tops the losers’ chart, shedding 8.71% of its share price to close at N3.25 from the previous close of N3.56. Seplat shed 7.99% of its share price to close at N530 from the previous close of N576.

 Volume Drivers

  • Diamond Bank traded about 239.4 million units of its shares in 173 deals, valued at N497.89 million.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 119.35 million units of its shares in 603 deals, valued at N3.796 billion
