Nigerian Bourse extends gains, closes 1.06% higher, Friday

The Nigerian Bourse on Friday closed in green as the All Share Index grew further by 1.06% to close at 29,830.70 points from the previous close of 29,336.80 points on Thursday.

Market capitalisation grew by 1.06% to close at N11.124 trillion from the previous close of N11.007 trillion, gaining N117 billion.

Volume and value of traded stocks declined by 45.02% and 8.98% to close at 206.3 million units and N2.7 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

Market breadth closed positive as 30 stocks gained against 5 stocks that lost.

Percentage Gainers

Cornerstone Insurance, Veritas Kapital and WAPIC Insurance with 10% growth led the gainers chart.

NPF Microfinance Bank, Dangote Flour and UAC Properties grew 9.66%, 9.65% and 9.27% of their share prices respectively among other gainers.

Percentage Losers

Only five stocks declined in their share prices at the close of trade. Seplat shed 10% of its share price to close at N576 from the previous close of N640. Custodian Investment Plc, Unity Bank, UACN and Nigerian Breweries shed 8.62%, 7.78%, 3.33% and 1.27% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Diamond Bank traded about 30.4 million units of its shares in 163 deals, valued at about N61.03 million.
  • UBA traded about 26.47 million units of its shares in 248 deals, valued at about N192.83 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 18.98 million units of its shares in 261 deals, valued at about N408.92 million.
