Dangote Cement and Guinness Nigeria Helps Bourse Stays 0.52 Percent Afloat


The stocks of Dangote Cement Plc  which gained N8.99, and grew by 3.93 percent and Guinness Nigeria Plc which gained 1kobo and grew by 0.01 percent to help the Nigerian Equities Market advance by 0.52 percent.

The bourse gained by 192 points and N67 billion to see the bourse’s All Share Index close at 37,312.28 points and the Market Capitalization N12.914 trillion.

The market recorded heightened volatility which saw main indexes advanced in the day with the Total Deals growing by 16.79 percent, Aggregate Volume grew by 91.89 percent and Aggregate Value grew by 1,034.65 percent.

The stock of Guinness Nigeria plc, recorded the most Value turnover in the day with N1.010 billion. However, investors and traders focused on the stock of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings (FBNH), which had 77.561 million shares valued at N554.893 billion exchange hands in 421 deals.

Of the three Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Premium Board stocks; Dangote Cement was the only one that grew in price in the day, whereas those of FBNH and Zenith bank both declined in prices.

However, the market’s Federal Government Bonds capitalization stood at N7.870 trillion and the Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) stood at N6.482 billion.

Investors and traders largely picked up profits on stocks with those of Nigerian Breweries, Guaranty Trust Bank, International Breweries, Zenith Bank with Dangote Sugar being prominent.

On the flipside, the stock of Forte Oil which stood at 8.78 percent recorded the most percentage growth. Okomu Oil, NEM Insurance and Dangote Cement were also among the top percentage price advancers of the day.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index (NSEASI) for Monday 13 October, 2017 closed at 37,312.28 points which is 0.52% higher than the previous session’s 37,120.28 points.

Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.914 trillion against previous session of ₦12.847 trillion, representing 0.52 percent increase.

3,778 deals recorded in the day represent an increase of 16.79 percent against previous session’s 3,235 deals.

The 336.335 million units of equities traded for the day was 91.89 percent more than the previous session’s 175.276 million units.

Value of equities traded for the day increased by 1,034.65 percent more than previous session’s ₦2.646 billion to ₦30.023 billion which was recorded for the day.

Gainers for the day (16):

FO, OKOMUOIL and NEM led other thirteen percentage price gainers for the day.

Losers for the day (24):

CILEASING, CAVERTON and VITAFOAM led other Twenty-one percentage price losers for the day.

Ten Best Stocks:

FBNH, GUARANTY, ZENITHBANK recorded the most deals of the day.

FBNH, FIDELITYBK and DIAMONDBNK recorded the most volume in the day.

GUINNESS, FBNH and GUARANTY recorded the most value in the day.

Other Indexes:

The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 154.707 million shares exchanged for ₦1.284 billion. Industrial Goods came next with 132.938 million shares traded for ₦27.1 billion, Consumer Goods Industry, Services Industry and conglomerates industry followed respectively on the activity chart.

Market Breadth:

Market breadth closed negative as number of price losers slightly outweighed number of price gainer with 16 gainers against 24 losers.
