Bullish trend persists as market returns 1.41% WoW

The Nigerian Bourse for five straight trading days last week closed in green, bringing the week to a positive close as the All Share Index and Market Capitalisation both appreciated by 1.41% to close the week at 25,041.89 and N13.063 trillion respectively.

An aggregate of 1.065 billion unit of shares, valued at N10.798 billion in 20,482 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange, in contrast to a total of 421.984 million shares valued at N5.337 billion that exchanged hands last week in 11,801 deals.

The Financial Services industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 677.301 million shares valued at N5.070 billion traded in 10,386 deals; thus contributing 63.59% and 46.95% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively. The Conglomerates industry followed with 153.384 million shares worth N580.216 million in 894 deals. The third place was the Industrial Goods industry, with a turnover of 57.404 million shares worth N861.263 million in 1,671 deals.

Trading in the top three equities namely FBN Holdings Plc, UACN Plc and Access Bank Plc. (measured by volume) accounted for 320.196 million shares worth N1.802 billion in 2,639 deals, contributing 30.06% and 16.69% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

All other indices finished higher with the exception of NSE Insurance Index which depreciated by 0.28% while the NSE ASeM Closed flat.

Forty-one (41) equities appreciated in price during the week, higher than twenty-four (24) equities in the previous week. Eighteen (18) equities depreciated in price, lower than twenty-eight (28) equities in the previous week, while one hundred and four (104) equities remained unchanged, lower than one hundred and eleven (111) equities recorded in the previous week.

HONEYWELL FLOUR MILLS

Honeywell Flour Mills last week declared a dividend of 4 kobo per ordinary share of N0.50 kobo each. With the current share price of N1.05, dividend yield of Honeywell is calculated as 3.81%. Qualification Date is on Wednesday, 16th September, 2020. Closure Date is on Thursday, 17th September 2020. Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 30th September, 2020.

 

CONSOLIDATED HALLMARK INSURANCE

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance proposed bonus of one (1) shares for every Fifteen (15) existing shares held. Qualification date is on Tuesday, 18th August, 2020 and Closure date is from Wednesday, 19th – Tuesday, 25th August, 2020.

 

FLOUR MILLS OF NIGERIA

Flour Mills declared N1.40 dividend per ordinary share of N0.50 kobo each. Relative to the closing share price of N19.3, dividend yield of Flour Mills is evaluated as N7.25%. Qualification date is Friday, 14th August, 2020 and closure date is on Monday, 17th August 2020.

 

CUSTODIAN INVESTMENT

Custodian Investment declared interim dividend of 10 kobo for per ordinary share for every 50k each. Qualification date is on Friday, 21st August, 2020. The closure date is on Monday, 24th Friday, 28th August 2020.

 

CORNERSTONE INSURANCE

Cornerstone Insurance issued Bonus Scrip for the Half Year ended 30 June 2020. The underwriting firm proposed bonus of Seven (7) new shares for every Thirty (30) existing shares held. Qualification date is on Wednesday, 12th August, 2020 while closure date is Thursday, 13th – Monday, 17th August, 2020.

 

MTN NIGERIA

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc declared Interim Dividend of N3.50 for the Half Year ended 30 June 2020. With the current share price of N118.5, dividend yield of MTN is 2.95%. Qualification Date is on Friday, 14th August, 2020. Closure date is on Monday, 17th August, 2020.

 

CUTIX PLC

Cutix Plc proposed 12.5 kobo per ordinary share of N0.50 kobo for the year ended. Qualification Date is on Friday, 13th November, 2020 while closure date is Monday, 16th – Friday, 20th November 2020.
